Abalone outplants!

After rearing genetically distinct families of abalone in our hatcheries at Mukilteo and Port Gamble, we outplanted almost 2,000 animals near Anacortes and Port Angeles. In addition to two years of hatchery work by Josh Bouma and Jason Suzuki, the outplant took dozens of people, a month of continuous field work, more than 100 SCUBA dives in 49 degree water (2 days of cumulative time underwater) and an incredible team spirit from everyone.

The following (alphabetically) were part of our outplant efforts. During 2 years of hatchery-rearing, countless others were involved as well. Special thanks to all!
